Ho Chiak Bak Kut Teh is located just opposite Dewan Masyarakat where Kuching Festival is held every year and Chung Hua Primary School No.3.

How can you not have chili for bak kut teh?

They claimed that this bak kut teh is original recipe from Klang. However, I’m not judge to say it’s not as I’m not a bak kut teh expert.

Let’s see what we had:

Garlic rice(RM1)

Bak kut teh (RM6), the usual type we usually get.

Bak kut teh (RM6), this is the dry type.

By the way, the place is not air-conditioned. It’s just like any other kopitiam.

It’s very easy to find food in Singapore. Food is everywhere! You can even find food at almost all of the MRT stations.

Foodfare is one of the food courts located at Sembawang MRT.

These are some photos of the food court interior:

Modern, clean and simple design. You can find all sort of food there, that’s what food court is all about anyway. Food ranging from local to international cuisine all under one roof.

Here are some of the food we had ordered for our lunch:

Salmon Pete+Chicken Terriyaki Bento (SGD5.30)

Hokkien Mee (SGD3.50)

Red Ruby(SGD1.70)

I still have some posts from my recent Singapore trip to share. So do expect posts about food out of Kuching for quite some time.

There are many photos to filter for the trip so it will take a while for me to update about the food I had in Singapore.

Anyway, let’s see what Restoran Yat Yeh Hing at KL has to offer. I’m sure this is one of the dining place that is very popular for those staying around KL.  Sorry but I don’t have any detail on the location of the place. I only know that it’s near Kelana Jaya LRT Station.

The place is always packed. People come here for their chicken rice.

How to have chicken rice without the chili?

We were told that the soup is free flow.

It’s just beansprout, lots of them.

Roasted chicken. Steamed chicken was out of stock that time.

The rice.

Was also told that the buah kedondong (Great Hog Plum) juice is very popular here.

Chicken rice fan might want to give this place a try when you are in Petaling Jaya.

Be sure to exercise after indulging in so much food, you can consider treadmills for exercise.

Actually visited this place more than a year ago, photo was taken during that time. Just realized that there’s no post on this posted. Might have missed out that time.

This is Food Republic, the food court you can find in Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur. Not sure where the place has changed or not, anyone can share?

You can find many variety of food available there and each stall has different design. It’s self-service, order your food, pay at the counter and carry it to your table yourself.

These are some food that we ordered that time. Not much details in it though. Just to share the photos with you.

Sweet and sour fish rice.

Do not remember what this is called, it’s a type of Japanese noodle dish.

Yong Tau Fu.

Serian is a small town in Sarawak. Serian is no stranger to the locals here. It’s about 45 minutes drive from Kuching. There’s many places to eat in this small town.

One of them is Chin Miaw Cafe. It’s the row next to KFC. Not hard to find. From what we heard from the locals, the food here is slightly higher priced compared to other eateries in Serian.

If I’m not mistaken, this is one place with different way of presenting their food and with laminated menu in Serian. Even has banner hanging there with all the food pictures.

Let’s see what we had:

BBQ Noodle(RM3.20)

Tang hoon soup(RM3.50)

kueh chap(RM3.80)

Pork intestine soup and rice(RM4.80)

Overall, the food we ordered were on the sweeter note.

Sing Hiang Hing Foodshop is located at Lundu Market, the second floor.  Not hard to locate the place, Lundu is not a big place, don’t worry about getting lost when you are there.

A plate of meat(pork, chicken and egg) for three.

A bowl of vegetables soup for three but the soup came with pork meatballs, prawns and livers in it. It’s not pure vegetable soup.

A plate of prawn is RM18 for consumption of 3 people.  Salt Prawn(translated literally based on the Chinese name) is the specialty of the shop. It is highly recommended by the locals.

Total spent on this meal was RM32, excluding the drinks from other shop.

Sam Chai is located at Sematan. This is one place you can get seafood in Sematan. Sematan town is small, it’s very easy to find. It’s located at the row of shops facing the jetty. Sematan is about one and half hour drive from Kuching.

Let’s see some of the food that we had but too bad we didn’t order any seafood that time due to some unforeseen circumstances but everyone that dined there ordered lots of seafood for lunch. Sematan is known for its very cheap and affordable seafood and some people would just drive all the way here to have seafood.

Fresh coconut juice.

Chili for the kueh tiaw and noodle we ordered.

Taugeh Fried Kueh Tiaw (RM2)

Taugeh Fried Noodle (RM2)

I’m sure Song Kheng Hai is not a stranger to anyone local. This is the place where many locals like to have their old time favourite food.

Last time, they did open at night but nowadays they only open for lunch and tea break. If not mistaken, most stalls are not open on Monday.

It’s always pack with people.

Many stalls selling the same food but everyone has their own preferences as we grew up eating them and most will visit their familiar stalls. These stalls have been doing business for more than 20 years or even 30 years or so.

Some of the food available there:

Belacan beehon.

Cha kueh.

Taugeh mee.

Meatball soup noodle. Don’t remember how the locals called it, opppss…

Sugarcane juice with lime/lemon. There’s also sugarcane juice with coconut. You can also opt for pure sugarcane juice.

Kongpia with meat filling.

Another variation of kongpia, this is with cheese.

Many ice dessert stalls available and they all have metahon. The onlydifference is the taste. Each stall has their own unique way of preparing Metahon. Usually ice dessert is sweet but Metahon is the sour version of ice dessert.

Basically Song Kheng Hai is a place where you can have all the local favourites under one roof.

The location is not hard to find. It’s located at Song Kheng Hai area, the locals usually refer it as Song Kheng Hai. Just ask any local in Padungan area they will tell you the place. If you manage to locate Everrise or bing! at Padungan, then it’s jut behind them. You won’t miss the big building with a huge field next to it.
