Heard of Mr. Baoz! before? I got to know about it few years back but only had the opportunity to try it out during my previous trip to KL. Found the outlet at Food Republic, Pavilion. Immediately we bought some to try.

Since there was promotion that time and we bought the promo set, 4 baby Mr. Baoz for RM1.70/each. Original price was RM1.80/each.

Forgot what we had tried though, I might get the names wrong and the names are not in order:

We had BBQ Chicken(from Royal Delicacy series), Winter Romance(from Chocolate Serise), Chicken Sate Baoz(from Royal Delicacy series), and Snowflake Taro Baoz(from snowflake series).

Wonder will this franchise come to Kuching in near future. Do you think people here will accept it or not? A simple normal bao can also be so cute!

You can check out their website if you want to http://www.mrbaoz.com.my/

There are several branches of Chilipeppers in Kuching.

This one here is located at Jalan Nanas at the row of shops somewhere opposite SCRXpress.

They served a variety of food from western to local food. You can also opt for their fast food.

Here’s the food we tried:

Signature French Toast with Peanut Butter & Honey(RM4)

Ayam Penyet(RM6.80)

Pecal Lele(RM6.80). If you are wondering what the black thing in the middle of the plate? It’s actually deep fried catfish.

Managed to pay a visit to Pullman Kuching recently. This post will show you the eateries available in the hotel.

There are two restaurants in Pullman Kuching:

Puzzle offers an al fresco dining experience with international and regional dishes.

This should be Nu Er Hong, a Chinese restaurant with an open concept kitchen.

If you just want to hang out with your friends, you can do so also at the following places in the hotel:

Deja Vu, a cosy lounge at the lobby.

Cafe Ch@t allows you to get connected while enjoying you pastries.

Liquid, the hotel’s superlative poolside venue with a DJ entertaining the crowd every weekend.

How can hotel be complete without ballrooms for banquets or functions right?

This is taken at one of the ballrooms. Did a rough estimation of the tables, they can roughly fit more than 1000 people here.

For reservations and enquiries, please call 082 222 888 or email to h6332@accor.com

When I was in Singapore, I came across many Uzumaki kiosks.

This is the one located at Bugis but I didn’t buy the ice cream from this kiosk.

Later at the day, I came across it again at Chinatown. I bought my Uzumaki ice cream at the The FirePlace at 268 South Bridge Road.

The ice cream on display, they are not real but they looked real.

I went for the Matcha-ah. It cost me SGD3 for this small cup.

Matcha-ah, the signature product of Uzumaki, is made from the best green tea leaves from Japan.

This little cup consisted of whole tea leaves with all the nutrients that come with it.

The ice cream was rich and creamy and the texture was quite heavy. It’s different from the usual ice cream that I tasted before.

Uzumaki’s tagline is Japanese Favourite Ice Cream. Check out Uzumaki offical website.

Were you there at Big Apple Donuts, tHe Spring today? Do you know that they are having promotion today? Do you have the coupon for it? With the coupon, one dozen of donuts is only RM13, half dozen of donuts is only RM7.20. I’m sure many people will not want to miss this. Original price for one dozen is RM27, that’s a lot of saving there! It’s only valid today.

This is what I got yesterday from the newspapers.

As early as 10am in the morning, the queue was so long until Ta Kiong.

See how long the queue was?

Didn’t manage to get most of the new flavours though. They were having difficult time refilling the trays.

By the way, I just realized there’s no GST charged.

Did you get yours today?

Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), which opened its doors for the first time on August 8, is preparing for a wholesome Ramadhan experience covering a sumptuous buffet selection which changes daily.

The month of Ramadhan is a one that is reserved for reflection, devotion to God and self control. It is said, that only through fasting, can man understand the sufferings of others around the globe, and be enlightened with a new found appreciation of what they have. Through this, believers are reminded of their social responsibility to share and give to those who are in need.

Many look forward to Ramadhan because of what it represents, and also because of the food bazaar, where local and festive delicacies are sold under the same roof. In multi ethnic Sarawak, for the Muslims non Muslims alike, the latter is an annually anticipated event.

Over the years, Ramadhan has been marketed as a food fest, with the promise of break fasting to a varied spread. At the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), they are offering a truly fulfilling berbuka puasa experience. BCCK’s team of chefs has in store, Ramadhan menus and which provide for a balanced dietary intake.

Their chefs will prepare all dishes with the freshest ingredients, adhering to stringent HACCP and Halal guidelines. Your family’s most memorable buka puasa will just happen in BCCK.

According to health tips from dieticians and doctors in general, refined carbohydrates or fast-digesting foods such as dates may be better taken at Iftar to rapidly restore blood glucose levels, after a long day of fasting.

Dates are an excellent source of sugar, fibre, carbohydrates, potassium and magnesium and have been recommended since the days of the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) as a good way of breaking the fast.

Taken from a sample menu of what their chefs have in store, imagine breaking fast with Tunisian, Egyptian and Saudi dates, followed by a refreshing serving of Air Kelapa Muda or Apricot Juice. A selection of assorted nuts, dried fruits and local kuihs will also be served.

In nourishing the mind and body throughout the month of Ramadhan, normal quantities of food from the major food groups: bread and cereal, milk and dairy product, fish, meat and poultry, bean, vegetable and fruit should be consumed.

In line with this, the Main Course in BCCK’s Ramadhan buffet (which changes daily) serves items such as Nasi Tomato, Kari Ayam Madras, Daging Rendang Tok, Ikan Goreng Masak Acar, Udang Goreng Cili Kering dan Gajus, Sotong Goreng Berlada, Gulai Lemak Sayuran, Tofu Sen Gen Masak Sayuran, Itik Panggang, Satays and Kambing Panggang.

BCCK’s Ramadhan buffet menu also includes Appetisers, Fruit Pickles, Side Dishes, Local Greens and Sambal, Soups, Desserts and a selection of Assorted Thirst Quenchers. Menu for BCCK’s Ramadhan Buffet changes daily.

As this is BCCK’s first Ramadhan, this one-of-a-kind experience can be enjoyed at just RM55++ for adults, and RM25++ for children between four to 12 years old. BCCK’s Ramadhan Buffet starts on August 22 to September 15, 2009 and vouchers are now on sale at BCCK.

As you know, Ramadan is coming aka the fasting month. During this month, for the non-muslims, it would mean food and more food as there will be many stalls set up at the Ramadan Bazaar around Kuching.

Ramadan Bazaar 2009 will be held at two venues.

(1) Jubilee Ground carpark
(2) Stutong Community Market carprak

Hmm… How come Satok doesn’t have? I thought the biggest bazaar usually will be at Satok.

You will get halal cooked food, dinks, and festive goodies. Do not expect to find best wrinkle cream there though but you will get best food for sure.

The bazaar starts from 22nd August - 19 September, 2pm-late evening daily for the whole duration of the bazaar.

WOW! Kuchingites will be spoilt by all the choices of food from Kuching Festival and Ramadan Bazaar.
