I think Pan Mee in KL is just like Kolo Mee in Kuching. This eatery is located at Jalan Berangan. I’m not sure its Malay or English name of the place. The Chinese name for this place is 添記(老地方)板面.

I found out that they have another branch at Jalan Alor called Uncle Lim板麵(林記茶餐室). Both are pretty well-known among the locals. The two sisters are the persons behind these famous eateries.

I have problem finding the writeup of this particular place online in English. Will try my best to share more with you.

We went there for lunch. It’s was so packed!

Was quite lost in what to order. Luckily they had set lunch promotion and we went for it. It made the ordering so much easier, there’s a list there on the table. The set came with the pan mee + fish ball + meat ball + drink + a pack of facial tissue. Small set was RM7.50 and big set was RM8. There were 16 types of pan mee dishes for you to choose!

Here’s what we ordered:

Flat soup. The pan mee was served in soup along with dried anchovies, mushrooms, sweet leaf, meat balls, and fish balls.

Flat dry.

Thin dry.

All right, I know the names sound weird, I just quote from the menu.

You can choose to have herbal tea(the brownish yellowish one) or cincau(black one) for the drink either hot or cold.

It seems like Ipoh Town Kopitiam is expanding quite fast in Kuching. First outlet in Kuching is located at Boulevard Shopping Mall, then came another one at Brighton Square. Now the third one at Tun Jugah.

Their signature drink is Ipoh “White” Coffee. This roast coffee is prepared using a unique method that combines elements of modern approaches with traditional Malaysian brewing practices. The name “white coffee” is associated with Ipoh, the origin of this coffee.

They also served a variety of local favourites such as nasi lemak, curry chicken rice, variety of toast and more.

This one here is Xi Mu Milk Tea(RM2.60), I don’t drink coffee. I forgot to take photo of it, only remembered after a few sips ;p

Since it’s located at the golden triangle of Kuching, the place is always packed especially during lunch and tea breaks(morning and afternoon).

If you have My Privilege Book, you can get various offers using the coupons or just present your card and enjoy 10% off the total bill(for dine-in only).

You can also find Ipoh Town Kopitiam in Miri. I came to know about this place when I went to Miri few years back. Few years later, it finally landed here in Kuching.

The operating hour is from 10am-10pm daily.

I’m very sure that the famous kueh chap at Taman Riverview in Bintawa is no stranger to many Kuchingites. Many people said that this place serves one of the best kueh chap in Kuching. It’s operating from one of the houses in Taman Riverview but I have no idea how to tell you how to go to the place because I’m not familiar with the place and I can’t seem to recognize the road even though I had been there few times but can roughly give you the direction, I hope it leads to the right place hahaha…

You know the fishing boat roundabout at Bintawa? Take the turning on the left where you can see a yellow house with huge “L”. Go straight and you will see a market on your left, take the left junction, drive a bit more and take the first junction on the right. After that, take the first junction on the left. Go straight again and I’m sure you will not miss it because you will see many cars park around the area and it’s on your right hand side, a corner house.

Business starts at 6pm daily. The place is always packed with people. Their off days are quite hard to predict but as a simple guideline, as long that it’s public holiday or special days marked by the lunar calender(e.g Chinese New Year, Chang Festival, Mooncake Festival and etc.), they will not be opened for business.

Small - RM4/bowl

Medium - RM5/bowl

If you want large bowl, they also have it, it’s RM6/bowl.

Going to share some eateries that I’ve been to during my KL and Genting trip few months back. Expect to see some eateries from out of Kuching.

Stayed at Theme Park Hotel, Genting Highlands and the room came with complimentary breakfast for 2. The breakfast was at Restoran Happy Valley Seafood. If I’m not mistaken, they are famous for their chili crab. Too bad we didn’t get the chance to dine there for dinner.

Just showing you some of the food available for the breakfast buffet.

There were quite a variety. If you prefer continental breakfast, you can get it here.

Even Chinese, Indian, and Malay style breakfast too.

Which one do you prefer?

The also have a variety of drinks for you to choose.

There are several branches of Chilipeppers in Kuching.

This one here is located at Jalan Nanas at the row of shops somewhere opposite SCRXpress.

They served a variety of food from western to local food. You can also opt for their fast food.

Here’s the food we tried:

Signature French Toast with Peanut Butter & Honey(RM4)

Ayam Penyet(RM6.80)

Pecal Lele(RM6.80). If you are wondering what the black thing in the middle of the plate? It’s actually deep fried catfish.

Old Time Coffee House has been operating for quite a while. It’s located at Petanak. There’s the little roundabout there, you will be able to spot it when you are at the roundabout.

You have to go to the  counter to order and they will send to you.

Some food that we ordered:

Nasi Lemak Special(RM6.90)

Curry Chicken Mee. You can get this by ordering the lunch set which is RM5.30(or RM5.80, I don’t quite remember the price) inclusive of a glass of Ice Teh O or Ice Coffee O.

Lum Mee, also from the lunch set.

Curry Chicken Rice available in lunch set menu too.

I’m not so sure the whether they had changed the lunch set or not though.

Besides all these food, you can also get toasts or  soft boiled eggs for breakfast.

If you go to Hill Shopping Mall, I’m sure you will fins Wan Chai Restaurant easily. Was there few weeks ago and it was packed. Seems like the business was pretty good.

The counter.

Part of the interior design, something different. There’s a small fountain there but didn’t take photo of it.

You’ll be given with the menu in form format. Just fill in the form and bring it over to the counter to pay for your food.

Taiwan Beef Noodle Special(RM8). The portion was quite big.

Lok-Lok Fried Chicken with Rice(RM10)

Even the box is special. In case you don’t understand what it’s written, this is the rough interpretation:

When have money, secretary is also the wife,
When poor, cows and goats are companions,
When rich, cows and goats are to be eaten with rice,
One meal of vegetarian food, kill less living things,
Long term vegetarian eater, ensures living a longer and better life.

Bought their Vegetarian Fried Bee with tofu skin that cost RM2.97

Go. Fun Kee Cafe is already operating for 6 years. Currently they have 6 outlets. There are 5 in Sarawak and the one in Taman Bukit Serdang is the 6th branch.

Go. Fun Kee recommended that you try only 2-4 types of food at a time, this will ensure that you get to taste the unique taste of the food and your taste buds won’t be overloaded by taste.

Let’s see their most ordered food in Kuching:

Dry Bak Kut Teh(招牌乾肉骨茶) - Pork ribs, 3-layer meat, lean meat, meatball, and lady’s fingers that are braised long enough to seal in the flavour. It’s great to pair it with rice.

Fu Zhou Chicken With Red Wine(福州红糟酒鸡) - Delicacy of the Foochow. It has distinct taste and fragrance. The chicken meat is cooked with Fu Zhou red wine lees. They only cook it when you order it.

Chicken Mushroom(蘑菇花雕鸡) - Most children will love this. The chicken meat is braised with Huadiao Wine.

Foo Chow Mee Sua(福州鸡汤面线) is one of their signature dishes. As the name suggested it, the ingredients for this dish are the famous mee sua by the Foochow and red or yellow Chinese wine for the broth.

Perserved Egg with Tau Fu(皮蛋冻豆腐)

Black Venegar Prok Leg(正宗猪脚醋)

Big/Small Bone(大骨/小骨)

Vegetable Claypot(蔬菜生褒)

Plum Cucumber Juice(冰镇酸梅青瓜汁) - Made from freshly blend cucumber and added with some plums for that special taste. It doesn’t only quench your thirst but also good for your health.

Black Crystal(黑砖奶茶) - This special milk tea is not only refreshing but also rich in flavour. If you like milk tea, you should try this out.

Three Colour Pudding(三色鲜奶布丁) - You can only find this in Go. Fun Kee. The bowl of pudding comes in a combination of 3 different pudding flavours. The pudding texture is smooth and soft. You can also opt for a single flavour. The flavours available are mango, honey dew, strawberry, yam, chocolate, and passion fruit.

2 Colour Shian Chao(招牌双色凉粉) - A combination of two different tastes of shian chao. Something special that you should try.

Ice Limau Kasturi(冰冻宝桔) and Shian Chao With Milk(鲜奶凉粉)
