Hari Raya Aidilfitri is one of the biggest celebrations in Malaysia. During this time, majority of our Muslim friends will hold open houses and invite their friends, family and relatives to their houses.

Hari Raya Aidilfitri is known to be the time you can find various type of food from mostly the Malay community. However, since Malaysia is a multi-racial country, you can also find various food from other races being served to the guests too. That’s the beauty of living in Malaysia. We celebrate each other celebrations. various races and religions will come together under one roof to celebrate an occasion.

Managed to pay a visit to a Muslim friend’s house yesterday. Here are some of the food found at my friend’s house. Mind you, these are just a fraction only! There’s still more and if you manage to visit more houses, you will be greeted with various kind of food.

Usually on their first day, they will serve various main courses to their guests. Food are served buffet-style. After the first day, some will not be serving all these food anymore, some will. It’s all up to the tradition of each family.

Besides the main courses, there are also tidbits served.

There are also various cookies and biscuits available.

The following will be something you will surely see in every open house. The famous kuih/kek lapis.

They are very colourful and come in various designs. Not only that, there are many types of flavours available too.

Those colourful kuih/kek lapis with various patterns or motifs are known as kuih/kek lapis Sarawak or kuih/kek batik Sarawak.

Hope you enjoy the food.

To our Muslims readers, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri!

PastaMania is practically everywhere in Singapore. At least I saw them at most of the places I went. We went to Suntec and saw it located outside of the food court of Suntec City Mall. Anyone can tell me what is the food court called? Some people told me it’s Food Republic but I doubt so. Hmm…

The pizza seems delicious so we decided to try it out. This is the counter where you order your food.

This is the seating area of PastaMania.

Ordered their chef recommended, Chicken Ananas(SGD11.50 for 7 inch).

Too bad, it’s quite disappointing in terms of texture and taste. It’s not as good as I had expected. Maybe it’s not my kind of thin crust pizza.

Hoi Tin Lau is located at somewhere behind the shoplot of Guardian at Jalan Mendu. It used to be located at Continental Hotel. They specialized in Chinese food.

Had the opportunity to try out the food last month and let’s see what we had. No actual food name and price available though, just want to show you the food:

Peanuts for you to savour while waiting for your food to be served. This is not free, there’s a charge for it.

Midin, it’s not the usual type that cook with sambal, this is sweet and sour and it’s served cold. Great for appetizer.

I assume this is seafood noodle.

One of the combination dishes that you can order there. In this dish that we had, there were abalone, jellyfish and some other food that I can’t recall.

Venison / Deer meat.

Fried kailan, another dish that you can try out. I’m sure not many people tried this dish before. The kailan leaves were deep fried and it’s very crispy.

Lastly, buttered prawn. Buttered prawn fans might want to try this out.
