If you are always busy with work, no time to go home for lunch or dinner or not staying with your family. I’m sure you miss your mother’s cooking or home cook food so much. You can have them at Mother’s Recipe. I don’t think you can find in any place in Kuching that serve home cook food, even serve to you just like when you are at home instead of the fast food that you get at coffeeshop.

They have set lunch on every Tuesday to Thursday starting from only RM5.00. If a drink is included then it’s RM6.50 for a set lunch for one person. They have different dishes on offer everyday. Just like at home, you don’t want to eat the same thing everyday right?

The food is exactly like what we usually eat at home, we were told that there’s no MSG used. You get a wholesome meal just like what you get at home in an air-conditioned eatery. Some people don’t appreaciate it but for those who are away from home or seldom have chance to eat at home, it’s really a place to feel like home.

Let’s see what are the food they have to offer(pictures shown are not portion for one person):

Pan-fried fish & lime (RM6), the fish will depends on the fish they have on that day.

Mother’s blanched midin with ‘Ulam’ Dip (RM6), the “Ulam” Dip has santan in it.

This is Belacan Beehoon (Nyonya-Style) - RM5, usually the belacan beehoon we have is the soup type right? This one is diffrent, it’s dry type. You get blanched bean sprouts, cucumbers and kangkong with the beehoon. Of course the balacan is poured on top of them.

“Ko Kua” (Bitterground) stir-fried with eggs(small-RM6, medium-RM8), I’m sure you are familiar with this. Miss home now?

La Kia Kio Fish Soup(RM5), another homey dish.

Mixed Veg Curry (RM5), we recommended the curries here. If you are into chicken curry, their Thick Nyonya Chicken Curry is good.

Not many people know how to eat this, it’s Cinchalok Dip (RM2.50). Sour and spicy but the spiciness will depends on the chilies in there as sometimes some chillies are not spicy enough.

If you are wondering where it’s located, here’s the map for you. Great for those that miss home. They ensure that all the food they serve are fresh and prepared on the day itself, there is no preservative used, it’s basically just like what you have at home, just like your mother’s cooking, tasted so different from what you get from kopitiams or restaurants.

Don’t expect them to sell Jura capresso though.

This should be a franchise. You can find them in KL, Johor and Ipoh. They served Hong Kong style food.

In Cantonese, it’s called “Foon Hey Dei Cha Chan Teng”. In Mandarin it’s called “Huan Le Di Cha Chan Ting”. The English name is derived from the Cantonese pronounciation, just my guess but don’t you think it sounds similar?

Chicken Chop in Black Pepper Sauce With Rice(RM8.20)

Nissin Noodle with Sliced Beef(RM6.80), just for a mention, this is really instant noodle. Nissin is the brand of the instand noodle.

Claypot Seafood Porridge(RM6+, don’t quite remember the exact price)

Claypot Ginger Sliced Beef Porridge(RM5.50)

Longan With Sea Coconut(RM3.20), it’s chef recommended and Hot Chinese Tea(RM0.80).
