The weather is hot lately don’t you think? Want something cooling? We have a new place for something cool in Kuching. It was launched not long ago. iGloo, situated at the same row as Roseberry.

Here are some food and beverages that iGloo offers:

The interior. Such a specially design. Very refreshing concept. Of course, if you don’t like to sit on highchairs, you can opt to sit at the side where normal chairs and tables are available. The air-con was so cold, the interior looks cold too.

Penguins on top.

Their menu. It’s plastic menu. Quite heavy. Actually iGloo is a franchise. They have franchise all over the world which include Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia(JB, Kuching…), Taiwan, China etc. The HQ is in Taiwan.

The ice is not normal ice. The texture is different, it’s not the same as what you get in ais kacang. The texture is fluffy. They have more than 5 flavours(chocolate, milk, green tea, coffee, mango, peanut, strawberry), more coming…

Milk Ice with Chocolate(RM4.80).

Mango Ice with Grape Wine(RM5.00), this is self customised, not available in the menu. You can customise your own snow ice. The more ingredient the more expensive.

The cheapest snow ice you can get is RM4.80 and the most expensive is RM6.

They also offer cakes, puddings and teas. For these, you have to ask the staff about it because that’s what stated in the menu.

Sharing Planet is a place where you can relax, chat with friends, while having snacks, supper or dinner with friends.

It’s located in Stapok. The cafe is not visible from the outside. All you see when you reach there is a lighted signboard and a signboard with opening hours. You have to walk to the right side of the huge detach house and use the plank bridge to go into the cafe. You will be greeted by lush green lanscape with lots of bonsais.

Beware of mosquitoes. I do not recommend those who attract mosquitoes to go there. However, when you are in the cafe, you won’t get mosquito bites as mosquito quails are place under each table. You can choose to sit facing the pond or facing the plants.

The place is quite dark at night but pretty romantic.

The sweetness is just right, no sugar added. They are made of 100% pure fruit juice, no water added.

Fried Calamari(RM6.80).

Left: Creamy Wild Mushroom Shitake (RM3.80). If you order a main course, then you can get this at RM1 off. This is recommended. They claim that it’s traditional fresh puree of mixed mushroom soup.

Tuna Caesar Salad (RM7.80) serves with mayonnaise dressing. It has Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, capsicums, celery, tuna, turkey ham, and parmesan cheese. I don’t really like salad served with mayonnaise. If you like mayonnaise, then it’s really recommended. The portion is huge.

Seafood Arabiatta (RM11.80), tomato gravy with mussel, calamari, shrimp and dory fish fried with olive oil.

Mixed Grill (RM23.80) is a combination of chicken, lamb shoulder, dory fish and sausages, served with daily vegetables and mashed potatoes or potato wedges with black pepper sauce. The portion is huge.

Charbroiled Sirloin Steak (RM17.80), selected part from the loin section grilled to your liking, served with mashed potatoes and daily vegetables with black pepper sauce.

One place to get BBQ lamb in Kuching is at Expert Food Court, Jalan Song. The only way for you to get there from Kuching city center is via taxi.

The lamb is BBQ to perfection and laced with the stall’s specialty sauce.

Three sizes are available, RM10(small), RM15(medium), RM20(large).

The stall doesn’t have a specific name. It’s only known as “BBQ Lamb”.

When you stand in between Chicking and Kaya & Toast at Petanak, you’ll be able to see it. I’m not very sure of the bak kut teh shop’s name. It sounded like “Sze Hua Bak Kut Teh” and you can notice the Chinese name have the word “Johor” there. I guess… This is from Johor.
